The approximate total load on the existing 6" thick foundation wall and 6' x12" wide footing, including the new addition, will be less than 1000 lb /ft on the 17' long foundation and less than 500 lb /ft on the two return foundations. These loads are far less than the Code - accepted 1500 lb /sf and will be structurally satisfactory. The minor nature of the proposed addition will not significantly increase the lateral loads on the building and the existing foundation will accommodate the anticipated, design lateral loads.
