The City of Tigard has gone through unimaginable changes over the last 100 years. Did you ever believe that you and your family's contributions to this city would make it the 12th largest city in the state? From the arrival of the Oregon Electric Railway in 1910 to the opening of Oregon's first Commuter Rail in 2009, it's hard to grasp the number of significant historical moments that you have been witness to in your lifetime. The small farming community of your childhood blossomed in the 1930s — necessitating paved streets and sidewalks on Main Street. Leap forward to the 1980s when an avalanche of residents brought innovative ideas for development and citizen involvement to form a community at the heart of the larger metropolitan area. Even with all the growth we've achieved, you continue to provide a living legacy for the 47,300 people that call Tigard our home. Lucille Ball once said, "The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age." Happy 21st Birthday! Warm Regards, Craig E.
