MEMORANDUM
TO: City Council
FROM: Jim Hendryx, Director of Community Development
RE: Urban Renewal Focus Meeting
DATE: June 7, 2005
Council established a 2005-06 goal for completing and implementing the Downtown
Improvement Plan. One of the tools for implementation of the Downtown Plan is
establishment of an Urban Renewal District, subject to voter approval. Norton-Arnold &
Company has been hired to develop a public outreach program to support development
of Tigard's Downtown Improvement Plan and establishment of urban renewal.
Norton-Arnold & Company has scheduled a brainstorming session on June 23, 2005 at
7:00 p.m. in Town Hall. The purpose of this session is to understand the goals and
priorities of the community, as well as generate new ideas about how the urban renewal
project will be presented to, and shaped by, the residents of Tigard. Your participation
is critical to the success of this effort.
Please contact Jerree Lewis at ext. 2447 and let her know whether you can participate
or not. Materials will be sent out in advance of the focus meeting to help you prepare
for the meeting.
