SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 16, 1974,7:30 A.M.

Reconvened recessed meeting of August 14, 1974.
ROLL CALL: .-Mayor.Floyd H."Bergmann; Councilmen John E. .Cook, Robert C. Moore,
J. Allan Paterson; Winslow C. Brooks, City:Planner;;.Bruce `P. Clark,
City Administrator;.Doris.Hartig, .City Recorder.
• Recessed meeting was reconvened by Mayor Bergmann to further consider the budget
reductions. City Administrator noted 'and explained that an error in the computation
of :the amount of necessary cuts which resulted in the need for approximately $20,000
less cuts'than'proposed at Wednesday evening's meeting'.;
City Administrator stated with this adjustment, the City'would need only to reduce
the budgetby $7,148 more than the already approved cuts and recommended that
police department dispatchers be reduced by one. Council and:staff discussed
the proposed reductions and alternatives to balance the budget..
Councilman Moore moved to accept .the City Administrator's recommendation; seconded
by Councilman Cook. Motion failed by 2-2 tie vote.
} Council and staff discussed further the reduction of one dispatcher and one
patrolman and with:the savings of additional $10,015. use the funds for an additional
NPO.plan and the remainder in the public works functions.
Motion toaccept the proposal with the elimination of one dispatcher and one
patrolman with the:'savings to beapplied .to planning department and public works
functions::'- Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Paterson.
Approved by unanimous vote'.of Council present. -
Mayor Bergmann called for special meeting Monday, August 19, 1974 at 7:30 P.M.
for the purpose of adopting the budget, levying the taxes, making appropriations
and approving the form for acceptance of.nominating petitions.
Meeting adjourned 9:30A.M.
