TIGARD CITY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION NO. 11- J9
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING PRINCIPLES OF COOPERATION AND COLLABORATION
BETWEEN THE CITY OF TIGARD AND THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.
WHEREAS,Goal 12.5 Policy 1 of the Comprehensive Plan states that the city shall coordinate and cooperate
with adjacent agencies and service providers;and
WHEREAS, the Oregon Department of Transportation owns and maintains several state highways through
Tigard;and
WHEREAS,the traveling public does not distinguish state,county,and city jurisdiction of roadways;and
WHEREAS, major highways in Tigard are inextricably linked to their surroundings and have positive and
negative interactions and impacts on the local community;and
WHEREAS,traffic volumes on statewide Highway 99W and Interstate 5 are highest in those sections traveling
through Tigard,and
WHEREAS, a partnership between the City of Tigard and ODOT is the best opportunity for effective
leadership and cooperation to balance the diverse needs of the public;and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard and Oregon Department of Transportation have worked together to identify
these agreed-upon principles of respectful cooperation and collaboration.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The Principals for Cooperation and Collaboration, including Implementing Items, are set
forth in Attachment A.
SECTION 2: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
