Resolution No. 09-21 CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON TIGARD CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO. 09-c:?, I- A RESOLUTION NAMING THE RECENTLY PURCHASED SURPLUS PROPERTY AT 10320 SW CANTERBURY LANE AS "EAST BUTTE HERITAGE PARK" WHEREAS, the City of Tigard, through Resolution No. 99-37 (Exhibit A), established a policy to name park properties;and WHEREAS, the City recently purchased the property known as the"Canterbury surplus property";and WHEREAS,the property was purchased in order to develop a City park on the site;and WHEREAS,the historic John Tigard House is located on the property;and WHEREAS,Wilson Tigard settled near this property in 1852;and WHEREAS,back in 1852,the Tigard area was known as "East Butte";and WHEREAS,Curtis Tigard,grandson of Wilson Tigard,is celebrating his 100"birthday;and WHEREAS, this occasion is a fitting time to reflect on the rich heritage of the Wilson Tigard family and the historic John.Tigard house;and WHEREAS, the Tigard City Council would like the new park's name to reflect this heritage and the early name of the Tigard area. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that: SECTION 1: In accordance with Resolution No. 99-37, the recently purchased Canterbury surplus property will be named"East Butte Heritage Park." SECTION 2: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage. PASSED: This day of 2009.
