RESOLUTION NO. 09- I
A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGAR.D CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING METRO'S APPLICA`T'ION FOR
A STATE TRANSPORTATION GROWTH MANAGEMENT GRANT TO COMPLETE, A HIGH
CAPACITY TRANSIT CORRIDOR LAND USE PLAN FOR THE HIGHWAY 99W CORRIDOR IN
TIGRD
WHEREAS, obtaining designation of Highway 99W as the next light rail corridor is one of Council's 5-Y"eaa.
Goals,and seeking to improve the Highway 99W corridor (land use, alternative routes, traffic, etc,) is one of
Council's Long Term Goals;and
WHEREAS, Metro has submitted a State Transportation Growth Management (TGvI) grant application,
requesting$189,345 to complete a High Capacity Transit corridor land use plan for the Highway 99W corridor
in Tigard; and
WHEREAS,Metro will partner with the City on the project and the City would provide an 11% local match of
the grant in the form of staff tirne and material;and
WHLIII'AS, the grant application calls for resolutions or letters from local officials in support the project
objectives of the requested grant. f
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the'rigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The City Council hereby expresses its support of completing a High Capacity Transit
corridor land use plan for the Highway 99W corridor in Tigard and endorses the grant
application submitted by Metro for the project.
SECTION 2 Tlic City is prepared to provide 11 percent local match of the grant funds in the form of staff
time and materials for the length of the project:.
SECTION 3 This resolution is effective immediately upon passage,
