ALLIANCE FOR COMMUNITY TRAFFIC SAFETY IN OREGON (AM) BICYCLE SAFETY MINI-
GRANT APPIICA ON FOR PURCHASE OF BICYCLE SAFETY EQUIPMENT
DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO TFIET[GARD CITY MANAGER.TO SIGN THE APPLICATION.
VAJEREAS, Alliance for Community Traffic Safety in Oregon is accepting application for its Bicycle Safety
Mini-Grant Program and
IEREAS, the City of Tigard desires to participate in the grant program as a means of providing needed
bicycle safety equipment to the children of low income families;and
WHEREAS,the Tigard Police Department operates a Bicycle Safety Program;and
WHEREAS, grant funding assistance would enable the Tigard Police to purchase helmets, safety vests, and
safety lighting for lower income children;and
WHEREAS,the Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition has agreed to assist the Tigard Police in
the distribution of safety equipment to the children of low income families and with the provision of bicycle
safetytraining,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard Gty Council that:
SECTION 1': The City of Tigard expresses its support for the distribution: of safety equipment to the
children of low income families at no cost to the family, and authorizes submission of.an
application for Alliance for Conununity Traffic Safety in Oregon funding assistance as
specified above; and
SECTION: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
