TIGARD CITY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION NO. 06=
A RESOLUTION TO DESIGNATE THE PLANNING COMMISSION AS THE STEERING
COMMITTEE FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE PROCESS.
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard is updating its Comprehensive Plan, which guides decisions on land
use, the provision of public facilities and services, and community livability;
WHEREAS, Section 2.08 of the Tigard Municipal Code defines the Planning Commission's purpose
to include advising the City Council on general land use and transportation responsibilities, and in
particular, to make recommendations regarding the long-range comprehensive land use plans for the
City, as well as plans for regulating future growth, development and design of the City;
WHEREAS, the City's vision document, Tigard Beyond Tomorrow, also calls on the Planning
Commission to develop the Comprehensive Plan update process;
WHEREAS, state land-use planning Goal 1 requires citizen involvement in all phases of the planning
process; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission consists of citizen members and holds regular public meetings
that are open to all citizens, and encourages citizen participation;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The Planning Commission is designated as the Steering Committee for the
Comprehensive Plan Update process
SECTION 2: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
