RESOLUTION NO.04- 56�
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL TO THE OREGON DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION OF A PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE IMPROVEMENT GRANT PROPOSAL
TO FINANCE THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS ALONG SECTIONS OF
FREWING STREET,GARRETT STREET,69TH AVENUE,AND 71sT AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the Oregon Department of Transportation has funding available for pedestrian and/or bicycle
projects for Fiscal Year 2006/07;and
Ni'HEREAS, the City of Tigard desires to participate in this grant program as a means of financing needed
sidewalk improvements;and
WHEREAS, the improvements specified above all connect to Pacific Highway,the City's primary transit
corridor,and would provide improved pedestrian access to transit services;and
WHEREAS,the proposed improvements are identified in the adopted Tigard Transportation System Plan;
and
WHEREAS, the installation of the specified sidewalk improvements is defined in an application for ODOT
Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement Grant assistance;and
WHEREAS,the City hereby certifies that the matching share for this application will be readily available in
FY 2006-07,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The City Manager is authorized to apply for a Bicycle and Pedestrian Grant from the OrPg-n
Department of Transportation for the installation of sidewalks connecting to Pacific
Highway as specified above.
SECTION 2:This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
