RESOLUTION NO.04- 01
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CRAIG E. DIRKSEN AS MAYOR OF THE CITY OF TIGARD TO
SERVE FROM JANUARY 13, 2004 UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2004, AND CALLING FOR AN
ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 2, 2004, FOR THE ELECTION OF A CANDIDATE TO THE OFFICE
OF MAYOR TO COMPLETE MAYOR GRIFFITH'S TERM OF OFFICE FROM JANUARY 2005
THROUGH DECEMBER 2006
WHEREAS,a vacancy in the position of Mayor in the City of Tigard occurred due to the death of James E.
Griffith;and
WHEREAS,for the conduct of City business the City Council determined that it would appoint an Interim
Mayor from January 13,2004 until December 31,2004;and
WHEREAS, the City Council determined that an election for the office of Mayor would be held on
November 2, 2004,for the election of a candidate who would complete Mayor Griffith's term of office
from January 2005 through December 2006;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: Craig E.Dirksen is appointed Mayor of the City of Tigard from January 13,2004,until
December 31,2004.
SECTION 2: The City Recorder is directed to take the necessary steps to ensure that an election is
conducted for the Mayor's position at the November 2, 2004, election date and the
candidate who receives the most votes shall serve as Mayor from January 2005 through
December 2006.
SECTION 3: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
