A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CITY OF TIGARD AS A KOREAN WAR
COMMEMORATIVE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard, Oregon wishes to participate in the Department of Defense's
recognition of the 50`h Anniversary of the Korean War;and
WHEREAS,the purpose of the Korean War commemorations is io honor Koreun vv ai`Vet6rans,their
family members,especially families who lost loved ones;to recognize the contributions and sacrifices
made on the home front; to provide Americans with a clear understanding and appreciation of the

impact of the Korean War in saving a nationfromenslavement and preserving peace, freedom and
prosperity;and
WFMREAS,the City of Tigard aFees to participate in three or more planned commemorative events
and activities each year for the 50 Anniversary of the Korean War Commemorative period of June 1,
2000 through Veteran's Day,November 11,2003;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that: The City of Tigard,
Oregon shall become a Korean War Commemorative Community.
