Resolution No. 00-06 CITY OF TIG ARD,OREGON RESOLUTION NO.00-QtP A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTING A PORTION OF THE FANNO CREEK TRAIL. WHEREAS, the Tigard Park System Master Plan calls for the completion of a continuous recreational trail along the length of Fanno Creek as it flows through the City;and WHEREAS, the City has completed approximately one-fourth of the total length of the trail to date;and WHEREAS,the City has committed funds toward the installation of an additional 1,200 lineal feet of trail between Tigard Street and Tiedeman Avenue during the 99/00 fiscal year;and WHEREAS,the construction of the Fanno Creek trail segment between Tiedeman Avenue and Johnson Street,immediately downstream of the Tigard/Tiedeman segment, is defined in an application for federal Recreational Trail Program(RTP)funds;and WHEREAS,this project meets the RTP objective of helping states provide and maintain recreational trails for non-motorized trail use;and WHEREAS,the Fanno Creek trail is part of the 140-Mile Loop regional trail system,which is envisioned as a high use,multimodal trail,interconnecting numerous neighborhoods and communities. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that: SECTION 1: the City of Tigard, Oregon, based on the aforementioned considerations, hereby expresses its support for the timely completion of the Tigard portion of the Fanno Creek Trail and authorizes submission of an application for federal assistance.
