A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING APPLICATIONS FOR
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTING A SIDEWALK AND RELATED IMPROVEMENTS
ON LINCOLN AVENUE AND A NIEGHBORHOOD PARK ON BONITA ROAD.BOTH LOCATED
WITH WITHIN LOW-MODERATE INCOME AREAS OF THE CITY.
WHEREAS, Lincoln Avenue was constructed without curbs,sidewalks,and/or drainage faciliti.s;and
WHEREAS, the installation of a sidewalk and drainage improvements along both sides of this avenue
would improve neighborhood quality and safety conditions for children and other predestrians;and
WHEREAS, the Bonita Road area is identified in the adopted Tigard Park System Master Pian as
underserved in terms of in park facilities;and
WHEREAS,the City owns land along Fanno Creek abutting Bonita Road and Milton Court that is suitable
for park development;and
WHEREAS,improvements to Lincoln Avenue and the construction of a park on Bonita Road are defined in
separate applications for federal Community Development Block Grant funds;and
WHEREAS, these improvements meet the national and county Community Development Block Grant
AFS objective of serving persons having low and moderate incomes;and
WHEREAS,Washington County will receive an estimated one million dollars per year for the next three
years,for which eleven cities,the county,and various non-profit agencies will compete for the funding of
various projects.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that: (enter info here)
SECTION 1: the City of Tigard, Oregon, based on the aforementioned considerations, hereby
expresses its support for making improvements to Lincoln Avenue and developing a
park c..Bonita Road and authorizes submission of applications for federal assistance.
