0 A RESOLUTION NAMING THE MTJLTI-PURPOSE BUILDING AT COOK PARK THE "BISHOP-
SCIIECKLA"MULTIPLE-PURPOSE SHELTER
'WHEREAS, construction of the ii.ulti-purpose buiiding at Cook Park is nearing completion and a
dedication is planned;and
NVUEREAS,the Ci,., ^.ouncil adopted Resolution 99-37 establishing a formal policy to apply for official
naming of City park facilities;and
WHEREAS,Resolution 99-37 allows facilities to be named for individuals who are living and have made a
contribution to the City through civic duty;and
WHEREAS,Martha Bishop was instrumental in having a temporary stage built at Cook Park and has given
years of dedication and her time to the City and community through attendance at meetings and community
functions;and
WHEREAS,Ken Scheckla has long been an advocate of having"Music in the Park,"has served on the City
Council and as Mayor for over thirteen years,and is noted for his efforts to protect the taxpayers;and
WHEREAS, City Council consensus is to name the multi-purpose building at Cook Park in honor of
Martha Bishop and Ken Scheckla in recognition of their significant civic contributions.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: The multi-purpose building at Cook Park shall be named the "Bishop-Scheckla
Multiple-Purpose Shelter."
SECTION 2: City staff shall have a plaque made in conformance with standards kept on record in the
Public Works office.
SECTION 3: The sign shall be unveiled at a dedication ceremony to be held after completion of the
building.
