RESOLUTION NO. 87-J J 5
A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL DISBANDING THE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 85-27
WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Watch Advisory Committee was created in April, 1985
as an informal citizen volunteer group assisting the Tigard Police Department
in the implementation of a Neighborhood Watch Program; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has worked successfully with the Police Department in
implementing this program to reduce crime in the community to the great
benefit of the citizens of Tigard; and
WHEREAS, the management of Tigard`s Neighborhood Watch Program has become a
full-time task for which the Police Department has now employed staff to
continue to implement and manage the Neighborhood Watch Program; and
WHEREAS, the Tigard City Council wishes to disband the Neighborhood Watch
Committee and to express their sincere appreciation for the volunteer time
spent by the Committee in implementing this successful program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
SECTION 1: Resolution No. 85-27 and all other previous related actions are
hereby repealed and the Neighborhood Watch Committee is hereby
disbanded and shall no longer exist as a committee of the City
of Tigard.
SECTION 2: The City Council wishes to express its sincere appreciation to
each member of the Neighborhood Watch Committee for their
countless hours of unselfish and dedicated service to the
citizens of Tigard in the task of implementing a strong
Neighborhood Watch Program.
