7-4 2A RESOLUTION OF 'FHE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL URGING LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL OF THE
ELEMENTS OF HOUSE BILL 2290 PROVIDING WO (2) ADDITIONAL CIRCUIT COURT JUDGES
FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY.
WHEREAS, a serious backlog of cases has become more prevalent before the
Circuit Courts of Washington County and has created the situation where there
is no longer the assurance of resolutions of matters in a reasonable time; and
WHEREAS, we believe the present judges are as efficient and responsive as can
be expected and the excess case load is caused by more citizens resulting in
more crime and litigation; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 2290 proposes to provide two (2) additional Circuit Court
judges for Washington County and the Board of County Commissioners of
Washington County has indicated that space will be available by 1989.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
1. The Legislative Assembly be encouraged to approve the elements of House
Bill 2290 which provides additional Circuit Court Judges to Washington
County.
2. This resolution, upon adoption, be forwarded to the Legislative Delegation
of Washington County, the Board of County Commissioners, the Mayor of each
Washington County City, and the League of Oregon Cities.
