RESOLUTION NO. 86--.JL3
A RESOLUTION OF THE TI:GARD CITY COUNCIL_ SUPPORTINC THE WASHINGTON COUNTY TAX
BASE MEASURE FOR THE NOVEMBER 4, 1966 GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, Washington County's current tax base was approved by the voters in
1916; and
WHEREAS, substantial residential and commercial growth continues to occur
throughout the Courcy; and
WHEREAS, the Washington County Board of Commissioners and Staff have uxerted
efforts to reduce property tax inequities between incorporated and
unincorporated properties; and
WHEREAS, the Washington County Board of Commissioners are proposing special.
service districts and other means to provide law enforcement and street
maintenance thereby further reducing the property tax inequities for residents
of incoporated properties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 2T RESOLVED by the Tigard City Council that:
Section 1: The Council does hereby endorse the Washington County Tax Base
measure as it will provide a basic service level consistent with County
efforts to reduce tax inequities. The Tigard City Council further urges the
citizens of Tigard to approve the measure at the General Election on November
4, 1966.
Section 2: The Council further directs the City Recorder to file a copy of
this resolution, upon its passage, with the Washington County Board of
Commissioners.
