RESOLUTION No. 83--� �
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TIGARD CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISHING A POLICY
FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THE EXPENSES OF COUNCILPERSONS.

WHEREAS, the City of Tigard pays $15.00 to each council member and
the Mayor per meeting, not to exceed $60.00 per month, Tigard
Municipal Code 2.44.010, and council members and the Mayor receive
medical and dental benefits paid by the city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard budgeted $2,000 in 1982-83 for council
expenses apart from the compensation of $15.00 per meeting; and
WHEREAS, there has been no definition of expenses for which the
council may be reimbursed; and
WHEREAS, inconsistent practices among councilpersons have resulted;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tigard that the
following council expense reimbursement policy is hereby established=
i
1. Costs associated with the council meetings, such as mileage
to and from the meetings, baby sitting, parking, coffee, meals or
other similar expenses, are not to be reimbursed, as councilpersons
have already been compensated for such meetings.
2. All other necessary and proper expenses incurred in the
course of the performance of City Council expenses not including
council meetings, for which councilpersons have already been
compensated, may be reimbursed; provided, however, all requests for
reimbursement of items in excess of $5.00 are accompanied by a receipt
and the total of such a request has not exceeded the budgeted amount
for reimbursement for council expenses for that year.
