RESOLUTION No. 80- 420
A RESOLUTION OF THE TIGARD CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION
FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ° DOWNTOWN REVITALIZA-
TION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF TIGARD.
WHEREAS, the Tigard downtown area has various problems related
to parking, traffic circulation, and building deterioration; and
WHEREAS, the Tigard City Council, downtown business men and others
recognize the need to revitalize and strengthen the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Tigard City Council did appoint, by Resolution No.
80-46, on June 9, 1980, a committee, known as the Downtown Tigard -
Committee, to study existing problems with the downtown area and make
recommendations to the City Council regarding same; and
WHEREAS, the Downtown Tigard Committee has recommended to the
E City Council the use of a professional consultant to prepare a
plan for the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the preparation of such a plan would cost $20,000 to
$30,000, and the City of Tigard would be unable to fund the total
cost of the proposed project; and
WHEREAS, Washington County will receive Federal Funds through
the Community Development Block Grant Program for various community
projects during the period July 1, 1981 - June 30, 1982.

NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Tigard here-
by authorizes the application for Federal Funds, in the amount of
$15,000, through Washington County's Community Development Block-Grant
Program in order to develop a downtown revitalization plan for the
City of Tigard.
