RESOLUTION No. 80-�
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING RECONSIDERATION OF THE POSTED SPEED ZONE(S) ON S.W.
121ST AVENUE BETWEEN S.W. SCHOLLS FERRY ROAD AND S.W. WALNUT STREET.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tigard, Oregon, has recently been
rcgaested to take action to study and reconsider posted speeds on certain streets
within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, aware on account of its members direct contact
with traffic in the area and, in addition, having had the recommendation of the
Chief of Police and Director of Public Works thereinregard, is of the opinion
that the request merits a detailed engineering and traffic investigation, and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of ORS 487.90 the State Speed Control Board
may make such detailed investigation, to designate a reasonable and safe speed,
if requested by a local authority; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Tigard expresses its recommendation
that the existing 45 MPH speed limit on S.W. 121st Avenue between
S.W. Scholls Ferry Road and S.W. North Dakota Street should be 35 MPH.; and,
further,
The City Council of the City of Tigard expresses its recommendation
that the existing 35 MPH speed limit on S.W. 121st Avenue between
S.W. North Dakota Street and S.W. Walnut Street should be 30 MPH.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Tigard hereby requests the Oregon
State Speed Control Board to consider the aforsaid recommendation
and to make an investigation with respect to designating speed(s) on the road-
way(s) in question.
SECTION 3: The City Council of the City of Tigard directs that this resolution
is to be forwarded to the Oregon State Speed Control Board by the
City Recorder immediately upon passage.
