CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON
RESOLUTION NO. 79- S'S
A RESOLUTION REGARDING ESTABLISHING AN INTERN PROGRAM WITHIN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS the Tigard Police Department has recently conducted a
study into the development of a police intern program, and;
MMREAS there is sufficient interest in the intern program by
Portland Community College, and would qualify as a criminal justice college
practicum, and;
WHEREAS there is strong support of the intern program Within the
police departments and;
WHEREAS there is a city need to develop a positive recruiting
resource to provide police services now and in the future;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED$
The City Council of the City of Tigard hereby authorizes the
Tigard Police Department to develop an intern program to recruit and provide
on the job police recruit training to qualified full time criminal justice
college students; to assist the city in providing police services; and to
provide practical police field experience, and future police recruiting and
employment resources.
