Resolution No. 75-04 fi yy CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON R RESOLUTION No. 75- 4 1 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR BOARD AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS ]� APPROVED BY THh CITY COUNCIL. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that effective service to the community can be achieved only by consistent attendance by members of Council-approved • Boards and Committees, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to establish attendance criteria by enactment of a policy directive NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Tigard City Council that: Section 13 As a condition of continued membership on each and every committee or board established by action of the City Council, each appointed member shall not be absent for more than 2 consecutive regularly convened meetings unless an approval for such absences for good and sufficient reason s`all have been granted by the chairperson of the affected board or commission. Three consecutive absences shall automatically constitute forfeiture of membership unless such approval shall have been granted. Section 2: It shall be the responsibility of the chairperson of the affected committee or board to expeditiously notify the Council of a forfeited membership under this rule in order that an appropriate appointment can be considered by the Council. Section 3: Good and sufficient reasons for absence may include but not be limited to illness, absence from the City or other circumstances beyond the control of the member. If absences at 2 consecutive meetings occur on a rec+irring basis, the chairperson shall attempt to ascertain the reasons therefor and if said absences are unavoidable the chairperson shall urge the member to reconsider his acceptance of the responsibility of membership on the affected board or committee. Section 4: Notwithstanding the responsibilities placed upon the chairpersons of City boards and committees, the Mayor and the Council reserve the right and duty to review, at any time, the attendance record of any member and to take that action which it deems to be in the best interest of the City and the board or committee.
