CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CONCERN OF THE CITY OF TIGARD REGARDING
CHANNEL CONSTRICTION..OF FANNO CREEK BY THE UNIFIED SEWERAGE AGENCY
AND REQUESTING THAT RESTORATION WORK COMMENCE IMMEDIATELY TO ALLOW
/ THE SAFE PASSAGE OF FLOOD WATERS THIS WINTER.
WHEREAS, the Unified Sewerage Agency is constructing a trunk
sewer line along Fanno Creek in the City of Tigard, Oregon; and
WHEREAS, during the course of this construction, the location
of Fanno Creek has been altered, the banks of the Creek have been
narrowed and fill material has been placed within the periphery of
the Creek; and
WHEREAS, said realignments, narrowing and filling have sufficiently
altered Fanno Creek and its flood plain to materially change the
flow, velocity and location of flood water.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Tigard,
Oregon that:
Section 1: The City Council's concern is hereby expressed to the
Unified Sewerage Agency and to the Department of
Environmental Quality relative to the potential
property damage that is likely to occur due to the
above noted actions of the U.S.A., and the U.S.A.
is hereby requested to immediately commence
restoration of the Fanno Creek flood plain area to
bring said Creek channel and flood plain to the
same condition and location as existed at the time
construction b^gan in the flood plain and that
this work be accomplished prior to winter rains
which annually cause high water conditions on Fanno
Creek and its periphery.
Section 2: This resolution shall be kept as part of the City's
permanent record for future reference if needed
relative to official notification to U.S.A. and
D.E.Q. of the potentially hazardous condition
created by the Unified Sewerage Agency.
