A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE WASHINGTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
TO REFER THE MATTER OF FUNDING ROAD AND STREET CONSTRUCTION, RECON-
STRUCTION AND REPAIR TO A CITIZEN'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE;AND TO PROVIDE
FOR REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCERNS AND INTERESTS OF THE CIES OF WASH-
INGTON COUNTY IN THE COMMITTEE'S DELIBERATIONS AND THE ULTIMATE
DECISION MAKING PROCESS.
WHEREAS, in light of the recent voter rejection of the proposed Washington
County Ten Year Serial Levy for road purposes, it is recognized that a more compre-
hensive proposal for funding of these road improvements must evolve, and
WHEREAS, it is urged that the Board of Commissioners recognize the con-
cams of cities as well as the County In this area of critical interest, and
WHEREAS, we find that a compreher.3,ve joint proposal for funding road
improvements would have greater voter appeal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT JOINTLY RESOLVED BY THE SIGNATORY CITIES that
(1)Washington County Board of Commissioners refer the issue of funding
road system improvements to a Citizen's Advisory Committee with added member-
ship considered to fairly represent the interests of the cities of Washington County.
(2) No specific proposals be formally proposed by either the County or the
cities until preparation and adoption by the Advisory Committee of a comprehensive
funding proposal, and that the resultant proposal then be jointly considered by
Washington County and those cities signatory hereto.
