RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE FORMATION OF A METROPOLITAN
SERVICE DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tigard
recognizes the problems created by governmental fragmentation
and overlapping; and
WHEREAS, economies of scale in functions of a truly
regional nature may be obtained; and
WHEREAS, the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners
has proposed a ballot-measure, if passed by the people would
create a multi-purpose service district to effectively handle
the regional functions of a wholesale nature on a metropolitan
scale; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the urgency of
the creation of such a district,
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Tigard, meeting this 27th day of April, 1970, does hereby go
on record as endorsing passage of Ballot Measure #7, to be
voted on with the primary ballot on May 26, 1970, and does
furthermore urge each and every concerned citizen to support
this measure at the polls.
