Resolution No. 68-14 RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF TIGARD
DECLARING RESULTS OF BALLOTING ON TAX BASE PROPOSAL
WHEREAS, at the statewide primary nominating election of
/". May 28, 1968, pursuant to Ordinance No.68-19 enacted by the Council
on April 8, 1968, there was submitted to the legal voters of the
City of Tigard the following proposition:

k For the reason that the amount of taxes that may be
levied by the Council of the City of Tigard within
the present tax base of the City determined by Sec-
tion 11, Article XI, Constitution of Oregon, is insuf-
ficient to cover the increased costs of personal serv-
ices, maintenance and operation of essential city
functions, the following proposition is referred to the
r legal voters by the City Council:
Shall the City of Tigard, Oregon, increase
its present tax base of $24,420.24 by
establishing a new tax base in the sum of
$89,753.00 to be first effective for the
fiscal year beginning July 1, 1968?
WHEREAS, an election with respect to said proposal was law-
fully conducted under supervision of the Director of Records and
Elections of Washington County, Oregon, who has certified to the
City the results of said election as follows:
Precinct 30 409 yes 380 no
Precinct 31 305 yes 266 no
Totals: 714 yes 646 no
WHEREAS, the said results have been duly canvassed by the
City Council of Tigard, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED: That the results of said election be, and
the same are, hereby declared as follows:
Total votes cast: 13,6Q
Votes in favor of sai(V proposal: 714
Votes against said proposal: 646
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:AND DECLARED that the said proposal
was approved by a majority of the votes cast, and that the new tax
base of the City. of Tigard thereby established is hereby declared
to be $89,753.00 to be first effective with the fiscal year begin-
ning July 1, 1968.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Recorder be, and she
is hereby, directed to record the results of said election in the
journal of proceedings of this Council by placing therein an auth-
enticated copy of this Resolution.
