ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDI:NANC:E:. ESTABLISHING A TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION SPEED DE:.SI.GNATION ON SW
135TH AVENUE.
WHEREAS, a contract has been approved for reconstruction of S.W. 135th Avenue;
and
WHEREAS, reduced vehicle speeds are necessary for the safety of motorists and
construction workers while the street is under construction; and
WHEREAS, ORS 810.180(5) provides that the Council may designate speeds for I
vehicles upon any street which construction work is being carried on so close
to the roadway as to be a danger to passing traffic or to be endangered by
passing traffic; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended a construction speed of 25 miles
per hour for S.W. 135th Avenue.
THE CITY OF TIGARD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: The designated speed on S.W. 135th Avenue shall be 25 miles per
hour between Scholl.s Ferry Road and Wrxlnut: Street. This provision
Shall. be effective upon posting of appropriate traffic signs
giving notice thereof and shall expire upon substantial completion
of construction as determined by the City Engineer.

;lection 2: This ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the
public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Tigard, and
an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall
be. in full force and .effect upon its passage by the Council and
posting by the Recorder.
