AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.12, PARK AND RECREATION BOARD, SECTION .010,
APPOINTMENT-MEMBERSHIP, OF TITLE 2, ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL, OF THE
TIGARD MUNICIPAL CODE, AND PRESCRIBING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council, purusnat to policy 17 of the Environmental
Design•.and Open Space Plan, adopted by Ordinance No. 77-70, deolared„the intent
to establish a cooperative arrangment with the Tigard School District to ensure
the provision of adequate year round recreational programs and facilities. t
THEREFORE, in order to implement the decision described above, the
City of Tigard ordains as follows:
Section 1: Having considered the recommendations of the Tigard Park and
Recreation Board and the Planning Staff and having entertained
testimony with regards to the recommendations, the City Council has found
that it is necessary, expedient and in the best interests of the people of
Tigard to establish formal coordination between the City of Tigard and the
Tigard School District for the provision of adequate recreational programs
and facilities.

Section 2: Therefore Chapter 2.12, Park and Recreation Board, of Title 2, ,
Administration and Personnel, of the Tigard Municipal Code, is

amended to read as follows:
1. "Section 2 12.010 Appointment-Membership. There is
created a Park and Recreation Board, consisting of twelve
(12) persons. Eleven persons shall be appointed by the
Mayor and confirmed by the Council, not more than four (4) of
whom may be nonresidents of the City. A twelfth person shall
be appointed by the Tigard School Board and confirmed by the
City Council, such person shall reside within the established
boundaries of the Tigard School District. All board members
shall have equal status in recommendation and voting powers.
Board members shall receive no compensation.”
Section 3: this ordinance shall be effective on and after the 31st day after
its passage by the Council and approval of the Mayor.
