Ordinance No. 72-64 CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON ORDINANCE No.72- �- AN ORDINANCE EMENDING Ordinance N0.69-76 BY PRESCRIBING A REVISED SCHEDULE OF AUTHORIZED RATES AND CHARGES FOR TAXICAB SERVICES; PRESCRIBING EFFECTIVE DATE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. THE CITY Oh' TIGARD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That pursuant to Section 9 of Ordinance No. 69-76, the rates set forth on Schedule "A" hereto attached and by reference made a part hereof, for taxicab service to be rendered by any business permittee pursuant to the terms of Ordinance No. 69-76, shall become effective upon adoption of this ordinance and shall remain in effect until modified or changed by further amendment to Ordinance No. 69-76, and no other or different rates shall at any time be charged or collected for taxicab service either directly or indirectly. The rates set forth in Schedule "A" of Ordinance No.69-76, to the extent inconsistent herewith, are hereby superseded. Section 2: Inasmuch as it is necessary for the peace, health and safety of the people of the City of Tigard that continuity of authorized taxicabservicebe maintained within the City and that the matters hereinaboveset forth be given effect without delay, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be effective upon its passa.go by the Council and approval of the Mayor. SCHEDULE "A" The following schedule of rates shall be charged and collected for the transportation of passengers in taxicabs for trips within the r: city and within three miles from the city limits, and it shall be unlawful for any charge in exce..j thereof to be made. All fares shall be determined by a taximeter, to be inspected by the Chief of Police annually, except those allowed by Paragraph F below. A. An initial flag drop charge of seventy cents (704). B. Subsequent to the initial flag :trop charge provided for in Paragraph A. the maximum rate shall be ten cents (104) for each one-fifth mile or fraction thereof, and/ or waiting time of each one minute or less. C. For each extra passenger over 12 years of age, twenty cents'-(2W) additional charge, D. Waiting time at the rate of $6.00 per hour shall include the time when the taxicab is not moving, beginning with the time of arrival at the place to which the taxicab has been called, or the time consumed while the taxicab is standing or waiting at the direction of the passenger, or forced to stand because of prevailing traffic conditions. No charge shall be made on account of time lost on account of inefficiency of the taxicab or its operation, or time consumed by premature response to a call. ' E. No charge shall be made for traveling without passenger, unless the taxicab shall have been engaged for messenger or delivery service, in which event th,2 rates applicable to a single,passenger shall be the maximum charge therefor. F. A service charge of one dollar ($1.00) shall be made for calls refused after being ordered. ak G. Persons age 65 or over may buy scrip or apply for credit ? cards and receive a 10 per cent discount.
