This memo is to inform you of our recommendations for the installation of the
epoxy anchors as called in our design and detail, R1. It is our understanding the
special inspection revealed the epoxy used was `ET' in lieu of the `SET' called.
Also there were some locations where the existing reinforcing only permitted an
embedment of 7" in lieu of the 9 -1/2" called.
We have reviewed the design loads and determined the 'ET' epoxy with a lesser
embedment has a capacity of 4,000 lbs, which is 70% of the allowable strength as
recommended in the Simpson Anchor catalog. This is greater than the design load
of 2,640 lbs and is acceptable with. us.
