Automatic fire suppression systems, including pre - engineered and engineered thy- and wet- chemical fire - suppression systems, shall be listed and labeled for specific use as protection for commercial cooking operations and shall be installed in accordance with Section 304.1. OMSC 509.2 2. Equipment and appliances shall be installed as required by the terms of their approval, in accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufacturer's installation instructions and this code. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available on the job site at the time of inspection. OMSC 304.1 3. Each automatic fire suppression system shall have both automatic and manual actuation means. A manual actuation device shall be located at or near a means of egress from the cooking area, a minimum of 10 feet and a maximum of 20 feet from the kitchen exhaust system. The manual actuation device shall be located a minimum of 4 feet 6 inches and a maximum of 5 feet above the floor. The manual actuation shall require a maximum force of 40 pounds and a maximum movement of 14 inches to actuate the fire suppression system. Exception: Automatic sprinkler systems shall not be required to be equipped with manual actuation means. OMSC 509.3 4. The building or structure shall not be weakened by the installation of mechanical systems. Where floors, walls, ceilings or any other portion of the building or structure are required to be altered or replaced in the process of installing or repairing any system, the building or structure shall be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with the 13125 SW Hall Blvd., Tigard, OR 97223 (503) 639 -4171 TDD (503) 684 -2772 Building Code. The cutting, notching and boring of framing members shall comply with OMSC 302 Sections 302.3.1 through 302.5.3. 5. Each appliance shall be provided with a shutoff valve separate from the appliance. The shutoff valve shall be located in the same'room and within six feet of the appliance served. Access shall be provided to the shutoff valve. C409.5 OMSC 6. Equipment and appliances regulated by this code requiring electrical connections shall have a positive means of disconnect in accordance with the Electrical Code. 301.7 OMSC 7. Appliances serving different areas of a building other than where they are installed shall be permanently marked in an approved manner that uniquely identifies the appliance and the area it serves. 304.10 OMSC 8. Appliances shall be accessible for inspection, service, repair or replacement without removal of permanent construction. 306.1 OMSC 9. Condensate from cooling coils or evaporators shall be collected and discharged to an approved plumbing fixture or disposal area. 307.1 OMSC 10. Smoke detectors shall be installed in return air systems with a design capacity greater than 2000 cfm. Upon activation, the smoke detector shall shut down the air distribution system. Smoke detectors shall be connected to a fire alarm system and shall activate an audible and visible alarm at a constantly attended location. 606.2, 606.4 & 606.4.1 OMSC Mercury Thermostats. The State of Oregon prohibits the installation of thermostats that contain mercury in commercial and residential buildings. "In accordance with ORS 455.355, the disposal of thermostats that contain mercurrshall be in accordance with programs established by thermostat manufacturers, their representative or distributor, or by delivery to sites that will ensure that the mercury does not become part of the solid waste stream or wastewater." Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
