tieolacific Engineer, Jim Irnbrle, visited the site today to review the foundation excavation subgrade. The
subgrade sells consist of stiff, native clayey slit on the uphill aide of the excavation end very stiff engineered fill
on the downslnhe Aide of the excavation; with the exception of the book footlnp lino. Up to 00 inches of fill
removal at the back footing line was required to excavate through poorly compacted fill. Bated on our
observations, It Is our opinion that the currant foundation, subgrade Is adequate for spread foundation support to a
maximum allowable bearing pressure of 1,600 of. Mnirnurn reinforcement as been recommended to the
above Reference 2. The excavation is sufficiently setback from the rear yard rockery wall such that it is not
adversely, surcharging the wall.
Our work scope pertains to a geotechnlcal engineer's foundation excavation review only and the conditions
existing and exposed et the rime of our site visit. No deck footing, patio, or other appurtenant etruoturo
subgrades were Observed. Our work was performed to the current local standards of practice. No other
