The resulting area is approximately 3,786 SF, requiring two exits. The building is six stories, o Type II -FR, fully sprinklered with an automatic smoke detection system in the corridors. UBC Section 1004.2.4, Separation of exits or exit- access doorways As you can see from Attachment A, the existing exit door is separated from the new exit door 3 M by approximately 41' -10 ", which is approximately 9' -8" less than the required separation distance of approximately 51' -6" (one -half the diagonal distance of approximately 103' -0 "). O o Evaluation of this condition under IBC, Section 1014.2.1, Exception 2, would allow for this configuration of exits. The required separation would be approximately 34' -4" (one -third the diagonal distance). The building is fully sprinklered and the exits will be greater than Group one -third the diagonal distance apart. Mackenzie, Incorporated Architecture Please feel free to call to review or I would be happy to meet at your office to discuss. Thank Interiors you for taking the time to consider this appeal.
