Subject: Onsite inspection of framing and plan modifications
Mr. David Green:
On April 17, 2007, we visited the referenced construction site in order to examine certain framing and
construction modifications that vary from the original design drawings. These changes are addressed
below:
1. The bottom flight of the new stair to the second level has been fastened to the concrete floor
with powder driven pins in lieu of wedge anchors that are detailed. This method of anchorage is an
acceptable installation, since the stair is completely supported by walls on both sides.
2. Upper floor walls have not been constructed to the roof structure as detailed. The addition
of 2x6 bracing at —45 angles from the top, wall plates to the sides of the existing roof beams /puxlins
will be necessary to support the wall in both directions. Connect the braces to the top of the wall with
Simpson LS70 at each brace end.
..m..iL> 3. The new glue - laminated beam at the edge of the new second floor has been connected to the
existing steel column as originally detailed. The support of this beam has been changed so that it is
completely supported on new columns and footings and the welded connection at the steel column is
now redundant, No special welding inspection or approval are necessary for this connection,
