[ , trach I PORTLAND, ORFOON Date: Job Address: -- -... [ I ' r Br - - -- — _ __ 16300 SOUTHWEST COPPER CREEK DRIVE ._., . 2:1 Mr. Shore: -fw - We are pleased to present the results of our geotechnical evaluation of the subsurface conditions at the settled chimney and corner of your house. The property is located 16300 Southwest Copper Creek Drive, in Portland, Oregon. We have proceeded with our report based on your verbal authorization. We explored the subsurface conditions in the area of the settled chimney and corner of your house. We advanced 2 borings to a depth of 12 1/2 feet using a one inch diameter hand auger. In the two borings we encountered Medium Stiff, Brown Clayey Silt (native). Geotechnical Engineering Conclusions and Recommendations We recommend the settled chimney and house foundations be underpinned to support vertical loads. These and other related points are discussed in more detail in the following paragraphs. Underpinning Design We recommend the settled chimney and house foundations be underpinned with A. B. if Chance helical soil anchors or an equivalent method. The underpinning anchors shall be capable of achieving the embedment depths and capacity limitations presented below. Bearing Material: Medium Stiff Silt Minimum Tip Embedment: 12 ft below base of footing, 1INK - 3U - 1J4 I uC. UU; 16 Hi] r. UL • 2 04- 1945.075 March 30, 2004 Maximum Tip Embedment: footingor as by the geotechnical engineer. Anchor Ultimate Capacity: 40 kips for Anchors Anchor Proof Testing: 100 Percent of Design Load Note: Underpinning anchors shall be installed according to manufacturers published recommendations. Anchor Proof Testing Procedure All of the anchors and should be proof tested. The proof testing shall consist of loading the each anchor in 5 equal increments to 100% of the design load. The 100% load should he held for 10 minutes. If the anchor movement between 1 and 10 minutes is less than 0.1 inches the anchor is acceptable, if the anchor moves more than 0.1 inches the anchor should deepened and retested or abandoned and a new, redesigned, replacement anchor installed. Closure This report has been prepared exclusively for the use of Harvey Shore for specific application to this project. We are available to discuss any questions you may have concerning this report.
