The exterior walls (bearing and non - bearing). 2. Interior bearing walls. 3. Shear walls. 4. Party walls (although I can't think of any openings in the party walls thus there should be no headers). I would consider the balance of the walls to be partitions, such as closets, pantries, fireplace framing, etc. These walls can be identified as there will be no foundation support provided. The partitions are non - structural in nature and need only have positive anchorage to the building framing, such as framing anchors (A35's etc.) or by nailing per 1997 UBC Table 23- II -B -1 (alternatively use 2003 IBC Table 2304.9.1). Should there be any questions at all from the framer, quality control, or the local jurisdiction regarding this matter please phone me at 206 - 285 -4512. Thanks, Gant Original Message From: Chris Thomas Sent: Tuesday, September 05, 2006 10:56 AM To: Gant Enderle; Don Rutledge Subject: RE: RFI re: trimmers at non - bearing walls Gant, the city inspector came out today for the frame inspection on bld 7, but did not except the wording of the engineering letter for the headers. He wants the engineer to specifically say that the headers are acceptable without trimmers and to ok the use of A35s in lieu of trimmers. Thanks.
