The plan review was performed under the 2005 Oregon Residential Specialty Code. The review
of the submitted plans will be completed when the following information is provided.
1. Manufactured trusses were not present with the plans. Please provide two copies, to
include the hangers called out for the connection from the existing trusses to the
carrier truss.
2. Engineering packet has calculated a 3 1/8" X 9" X 7' -6" Glulam, plans do not show
such beam, please indicate location on plans.
3. Engineering packet has the "Beam under girder truss" as a 5 1/8" X 9" X 5' Glulam.
Plan shows three arrows at such location but total span for middle section (rec.
room) is 7' on the inside. Please clarify.
4. When responding, provide two copies and an itemized letter stating in what way each
issue has been addressed in the revision.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.

Dear Mr. VanderZanden:
The following is a plan check response.for the structural items on the City of Tigard plan
check submitted by Brandon Shaw.
1.) "Engineering packet has calculated -a 31/8" x 9" x 7 ' -6" glulam; plans do not
show such a beam. Please indicate location on plans."
MCE Response: The 3 1/8" x 9" glulam from the calculations has been replaced by
a 5 1/8" x 9 glulam on the plans. This is a larger beam that is required and is
acceptable.
2.) "Engineering packet has the 'beam under girder:truss' as a 5 -1/8" x 9" x 5'
glulam. Plan shows -three arrows - at such location but total span for middle
section (recreation room) is 7' on the inside. Please clarify.
MCE Response: The point load for the girder truss lands on the beam over the
opening to the closet. The span in this location is:5' -0 ". The span over the
opening to the recreation room does not have the girder truss point load on it. The
calculation for this beam is done as the "Beam into Addition" on sheet7. This .
beam has been upsized to a 5 1/8" x 9" as stated above.
