Evaluation of a Polystyrene Shower Pan for Select Physical Properties Page 2 of 3 for Loxcreen Flooring Report No. 09-06-M0085 1.0 INTRODUCTION At the request of Loxcreen Flooring, Bodycote Testing Group was retained to evaluate the compressive resistance and density of a polystyrene shower pan product The material was received as four wedge- shaped sections with a notched surface. Upon receipt, the sample was assigned the following Bodycote Sample No.: € ent S aan p le Men TU Sarnpte°'Number Polystyrene Shower Pan 09 06 - M0085 2.0 PROCEDURE The material was tested in accordance with the following standard test methods. The results of testing were compared to the requirements provided by the client; as specified in Bodycote Testing Group proposal 09 -006 -1840. m, ' : « O L'tll x a., ` 1 eSGt IptlUI1 n=om sw _:..., tea. ,• — - .a' --.. 4_ ' Standard Test Method for Compressive Resistance ASTM 131621 of Rigid Cel lular Plastics i; Standard Test Method for E Apparent Density of Rigid Cellular Plastics ASTM D1622 The measured density of the material should be considered the core density of the polystyrene material, and not the overall bulk density of the product. In accordance with ASTM D1621, compressive resistance must be performed on a sample with parallel surfaces. The wedge shaped material was trimmed flat to facilitate testing. Testing was performed without the notched surface.
