Our office's correspondence (10/14/04) with Brain Blalock, city of Tigard Bldg. Dept., indicated that adhered manufactured veneer stone is an acceptable method of construction for a one hour fire resistive wall assembly provided that: (a.) the veneer stone is not used as a component of the fire resistive rated assembly, (b.) a 1/2" thick min. scratch coat with a 1/2" min. cementitious mortar bed for setting the stones be utilized (c.) all other components of the wall assembly are the same as an exterior wall with exterior cement plaster and 5/8" type "x" gyp. bd. interior finish. Special Inspections Special inspections shall be required for the cantilever retaining walls. Structural Steel Fabrication: Steel fabrication and shop welds to be inspected by a qualified inspection agency. All field are nominal fillet welds which can normally be visually inspected by the City Inspector. Should the inspector have any concerns or questions, he may require the contractor to contact me for . special inspections. Epoxy anchors are not currently specified on the contract drawings. A325 High Strength Bolts: All A325 bolts specified are not in with -in the slip critical category nor subject to tension loads nor required to be fully tensioned bearing type connections. Thus per AISC Specifications for Structural Joints using ASTM A325 bolts, all bolts shall be installed in properly aligned holes and need only be tightened to the snug tight condition. Snug tight condition is defined as the tightness that exists when all plies in a joint are in firm contact. (1505.1) In addition, the access opening needs to be a one -hour fire -rated self - closing assembly since the entire ceiling is a one -hour rated assembly. 9. The entire east wall is required to be one -hour fire - rated. See the gable end above the wall on 1/A3.1 and gridline 8, A to G on 1/A5.1. 10.
