(Fax 503 -226 -3130) RE: BAYLOR COURT OFFICE BUILDING SW 68" PARKWAY TIGARD, OREGON This memorandum reports the results of our field exploration at the proposed building site and provides preliminary geotechnical design values. Practical refusal on hard .basalt was encountered in test pits at approximate depths of 5 to 6 feet using a 15,000 lbs trackhoe. Attached is a map showing approximate test pit locations and depths to hard basalt. • It is our understanding that a cut depth of approximately 8 feet is planned for the eastern margin of the building footprint. We anticipate that heavy ripping, rock chipping and 'Possibly blasting in the - • .. lower several feet of the excavation will be necessary to achieve grade. At the request of Robert Evenson Associates, we are providing preliminary geotechnical design . values for the project. Our recommended design values are as follows: • Soil Bearing Capacity: 2,500 Ibs/ft Equivalent Fluid Pressure for restrained walk with free draining granular backfill and a level slope profile above: • At Rest = 45 lbs/ft Passive = 250 Ibs /f1 1 Coefficient of friction for poured concrete to rock = 0.5 If you have any questions, please call.
