Report re*, G2 ASSOCIATES INC. 503 - 292 -7939 GEOLOGY • SOILS • ENVIRONMENTAL • DEVELOPMENT September 15, 2010 Mr. Mark Seaman C/O Timber Projects, LLC 8407 SW 58 Avenue Portland, OR 97219 RE: Geotechnical Inspection and Guidance of Excavation Residences at 9254 and 9322 SW North Dakota Street Tigard, OR This letter documents our conversations with your builder, Mr. John Campbell, and the project excavator, Mr. Ron Mituniewicz, on the project on September 14, 2010. The purpose was to validate the field excavations for these homes and soil conditions found therein. Following are our observations, and recommendations for their use in your development. At the time of our inspection, the rough foundation excavations had been made into a very firm, brown silt unit known to overlie well- weathered basalt bedrock at varying depths in this area. The sites lay side -by -side on the southern side of the street and above it in grade by a few feet.. This should offer good surface drainage, which is a site factor we assess in such settings for our clients. We did inspect both sites and had the excavator cut out minor soil layers containing woody roots from the trees. We also directed the removal of highly organic topsoil in limited locales to reduce the potential for any post - construction consolidation settlement. We confirm the foundation bearing areas had been properly excavated and that all materials which might be viewed as deleterious to foundation support were removed. This allows the foundation concrete to be cast as soon as the forming and reinforcement have been achieved. Thanks for the opportunity to assist with these projects, and we wish you the best with their completion. Feel free to contact this office should further assistance be needed.
