The purpose of this report is to confirm that the soils encountered during excavation are similar to soils observed during the geotechnical investigation conducted by our office on June 24, 2010. The results of our investigation and recommendations were presented in our Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation report dated June 28, 2010. 1. Project Description Project Name: OR- POR454 -A Greton Host Property Address: 10250 SW North Dakota Street Tigard, OR 97223 County: Washington Time: 830 - 1300 Weather: Cloudy, Temperature in the 50's Contractor: SSB Enterprises Contractor Rep: Shawn Butler Adapt Field Rep: Daniel Watkins Adapt Office Contact: Daniel Watkins Type of Work: Soils Observation for Drilled Pier Excavation t Adapt Engineering, Inc. 2. Comments Adapt representative Dan Watkins arrived on site to observe the excavation for the drilled pier. At the time of arrival the contractor was approximately 16 feet bgs. The excavation was cased with' 5.5 foot diameter steel casing. We observed the soils that had been already excavated to consist of brown silty fine sand and fine sandy silt. The casing was advanced to 20 feet bgs and the driller drilled a center hole to the final design depth of 28 feet bgs. The soils became gray silty fine sand and fine sandy silt from 20 feet bgs to the design depth at 28 feet bgs. Ground water was encountered at approximately 16 feet bgs. Given that' the center hole had been drilled to the design depth Adapt departed the site. The contractor remained to case and enlarge the excavation to the design diame er. The contractor will allow the fines to settle out of the water overnight and return with cle bucket to remove the settled fines prior to placement of the rebar and concrete. Based on our observations, it is our opinion the soils within the pier excavation are consistent with the soils found during our June 24, 2010 geotechnical exploration and were properly prepared in accordance with the recommendations made in our geotechnical evaluation report dated June 28, 2010.
