The antennas will be mounted on poles which are connected to a steel frame constructed of 2x2 angles. The steel frame provides lateral support for the poles. The antennas will be mounted about 4 feet higher than the existing antennas but the bracing will remain. The equipment cabinet will be placed in an equipment room on the 3rd (uppermost) floor of the building. The existing building drawings and design calculations were attained from the City of Tigard. The design is based on these as well as as-built drawings of the antenna supports. SCOPE OF WORK Perform analysis of the existing structure and mounting hardware (specifically the braces) for the antenna installation. Verify whether or not the existing building is adequate to support the proposed installation. This design is to be in conformance with the 2006 International Building Code (IBC). DESIGN CRITERIA 2006 IBC ASCE 7 -05 Dead Loads Antenna Wt. varies, 11.0 to 28.7 LBS. Equipment Cabinet 308 # Snow Load 25 PSF + Drift Wind Load: F= gzxGxCfxAf= 38.7PSF 94.5 MPH Wind, Ht = 47', Exposure B, I = 1.15, Kzt = 1.00 qz = 17.77 PSF, G = 0.85, Cf = 1.35 Seismic Load: F = 0.288 W (ASD) SDC D, Site Class D Sds = 0.708, ap = 1.0, Rp = 2.5, Ip = 1.5, z/h = 0.69 SUMMARY The proposed Verizon antennas connect to mounting poles which are attached to an existing steel frame. The existing mounting poles are 2" Std. Pipe. The steel frame is constructed of 2x2x1/4 steel angles with diaganol braces in each direction to resist lateral loads. The existing mounting poles and braces are adequate to resist seismic and wind loads. The roof framing consists of 2x12 DF #2 joists at 24" OC. The increase to the joists bending stress due to the antennas is only 2.1% and is within the allowable stresses. The equipment cabinet is located in an equipment room on the 3rd floor. The floor was designed to support 50 PSF live load and 20 PSF partition load. The equipment cabinet is 16 "x12 ". Assuming it needs 6" all around it for servicability, it has a distributed load of 44 PSF. This is within the capacity of the floor design load of 50 PSF. Minimal anchorage required to the floor for resisting seismic overturning uplift and shear. One 1/2" bolt at each corner is sufficient for this load. (POR Tualatin) My read is that the antenna support assembly you have now is at 44 ft. That would be the base elevation I would use for any increase in antenna height. I have to assume that the hardware height was reviewed in the original installation. So, if your replacement antennae are no higher than the existing mounting hardware, then no land use would be required. From: Paul Slotemaker [ mailto :pslotemaker @realcomassoc.com] Sent: Thursday, April 29, 2010 12:30 PM To: Hap Watkins Subject: Replacement antennas exempt? (POR Tualatin) Hap, I just left you a voice message but thought I'd follow up with this email. I'm trying to confirm if Verizon's proposed replacement, rooftop wireless communication antennas will be exempt from land use review. The antennas are located at 6975 SW Sandburg Street in the CP zone. Per a conversation we had back in March, replacement antennas are exempt per 18.798.030(A)(1), but you said an increase in height could trigger a Type II administrative review. Verizon would like to increase the antenna height 1 -foot. This isn't a big increase, considering the mounting hardware already projects above the top of the antennas, but I wanted you to take a look at the following elevation views and let me know if the proposed replacement antennas would remain exempt or not. As seen, Verizon's existing antennas are 43' high. Verizon would like the replacement antennas to measure 44' high. Existing antennas from another wireless company on the roof are higher than Verizon's, and measure 47' to the top. Thanks in advance for you help, and please let me know if you have any questions. 1 Existing (43' to the top of Verizon's antennas) I I.O. fxtSitNS 81531 0 I 1 1 i ! it. ,i.:. kii Y.O _7B$if A'Sk 1 j Ila a .. il Y.O.
