Fanno Creek Park - Tigard's Downtown "Living Room"
The "Green" theme, developed as part of the Tigard Downtown Improvement Plan was one of the Task Force's "great

Healthy Streams in Tigard
Tigard is working to improve the natural health of creeks, streams and wetlands. The blueprint for the improvements is called
the Healthy Streams Plan,which seeks to enhance the regional watershed by identifying projects that will have the greatest impact
on local waterways;giving citizens the best environmental value for their money.
Tigard is focusing on three areas of improvement: undersized culverts, runoff and stream corridor vegetation. By
transitioning to larger culverts, treating runoff and planting native trees and shrubs we can reduce erosion, enhance water
quality and improve fish passage and habitat.
Design work is underway to replace two culverts along Derry Dell Creek. The new, larger culverts will slow erosion
and improve fish passage. Construction is slated for summer 2007. Also in the design phase are stream channel improve-
ments on Hiteon Creek at Scholls Ferry Road. This project will divert runoff from Scholls Ferry Road and surrounding
parking areas into a swale, or ditch,where plants and
soil will filter out pollutants before water enters the
creek. The project will be constructed in the summer
of 2006 and 2007. Planting projects have taken place
