Part al formwork was in place and the area had been covered by a thin layer of gravel. We understan• that the proposed residence is a two - story single- family home with slab -on -grade garage floor. The excavation probed medium stiff for two feet depth and stiff below. The subgrade soil consisted of m -dium stiff to stiff native silt where exposed. The observed subgrade was adequate for spread faundaton support to a maximum allowable bearing pressure of 1,500 psf. Settlements should be limited I to le .s than 1 inch total and 3/4 inch differential. If desired, expected settlements can be limited furrier b assuming a 1,000 psf allowable bearing pressure and making the footings about 2 feet wide. N• deck footing, patio, or other appurtenant structure subgrades were observed. (503) 658 -0204 Fax PROJECT MEMORANDUM To: Buena Vista Homes BCI Job No: 142 - 100752 Project: Milesbrook — Lot 7 Subject: BVH -2550 Date: April 2, 2008 Rear Window Header This Project Memorandum is issued to Buena Vista Homes for the BVH -2550 plan under construction on. Lot 9 in the Miles Brook development in Tigard, Oregon regarding a header over the rear window in the great room. The joist layout calls for a 3 x 14" LVL header over the 8'wide great room rear window on the main floor. A 3V2 x 11 LVL was installed which is inadequate. This header can be reinforced by adding a 1% x 11 LV on the inside face of the existing header and bearing on the wall studs at each end The added beam should be attached to the existing header with 16d nails spaced @ 6" on center staggered top and bottom.
