Modifications to residence
UTF Job Number: 11 -004
Dear Mr. Weeks:
This letter is to summarize the proposed modifications to the above listed residence.
The extent of these modifications is to modify interior walls at the upper level. All of the
modifications are within the extent of the of the shell of the structure as previously
modified by this office with our submittal dated January 18, 2011.
At the Master W.I.C. a bearing wall was removed and is to be replaced with a new beam.
Also, a new window at the master tub was added.
At the new opening for the window at the Master Tub, this wall was previously specified
as a shearwall. Per the calculations provided by this office, the left upper level wall line
has been modified. The previously specified 7' -0" shearwall has now been modified for
the decreased length of lateral resisting wall. The sheathing is to be a minimum of 7/16"
APA -Rated Sheathing with 8d @ 4" o.c. edge nailing, 12" o.c. field nailing, with double
studs at all panel edges. All panels edges are to be blocked. Also, at each end of this
shearwall there is to be a `Simpson' MSTC40 strap.
Per the stamped structural calculations and markups, the new beam at the master closet is
to be a dropped 4x12 beam to support the upper roof. Also, the new header at the new
opening at the master tub is to be a 4x8 header.
