COMMERCIAL MECHANICAL PERMIT APPLICATION
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The project is an upgrade of the chemical feed system for three of the odor control scrubbers at the Durham
Facility. The work requires the installation of eight small chemical metering pumps and related
instruments in the Chemical and Headworks Buildings, a new chemical storage tank and transfer pump and
related plant and small diameter (2 -inch) yard piping as well as select demolition of existing facilities.
New HVAC ducting will be installed in the Headworks building to better utilize existing air handling units.
Electrical work is limited to the demolition of old chemical feed equipment and work required to interface
all improvements with existing facilities. The work of this project will be performed within and around
existing buildings and will not add any square footage to existing buildings.
The value of all mechanical improvements, labor, overhead and the profit for work indicated in the bid
documents is estimated at $195,000.

The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Mechanical Specialty Code (OMSC)
2004 edition. The submitted plans are approved subject to the following.
1. Equipment and appliances shall be installed as required by the terms of their approval, in
accordance with the conditions of the listing, the manufacturer's installation instructions
and this code. Manufacturer's installation instructions shall be available on the job site at
the time of inspection. OMSC 304.1
2. The building or structure shall not be weakened by the installation of mechanical systems.
Where floors, walls, ceilings or any other portion of the building or structure are required
to be altered or replaced in the process of installing or repairing any system, the building
or structure shall be left in a safe structural condition in accordance with the Building
Code. The cutting, notching and boring of framing members shall comply with OMSC
302 Sections 302.3.1 through 302.5.3.
3. Ducts shall be supported with approved hangers at intervals not exceeding 10 feet
or by other approved duct support systems designed in accordance with the Building
Code. Flexible and other factory-made ducts shall be supported in accordance with the
manufacturer's installation instructions. OMSC 603.10
4. Metallic Ducts shall be supported in accordance with Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning
Contractors National Association, Inc. (SMACNA) — Metal and Flexible. OMSC 603.4
5. Where vibration isolation of equipment and appliances is employed, an approved means
of supplemental restraint shall be used to accomplish the support and restraint. OMSC

Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be
maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors

When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
