Engineer: David Gorton Attendees: Dorian Weather: NA Purpose of Visit / Question: 1) IDP Wall located at the back garage wall can not have gypsum board sheathing applied to both faces of the wall due to the venting requirements for the range. Please provide similar design using one layer of plywood sheathing. 2) Garage portal frame wall has been modified from the plans to show the garage door header located at the top of the door instead of the top of the wall. Please provide a new engineering detail to reflect this modification. Progress of Construction: Framing Comments: 1) The gypsum board wall in question is approximately 10' -9" & 5' -5" in length. Given the maximum shear capacity of a ' /2" gypsum shear wall applied to both faces using 1 -1/4" screws at 7" o.c. is 150 plf for a total lateral resistance of 2425 lbs. In place of the gypsum shear wall in question, use 7/16" OSB on one side with 8d nails @ 6" at panel edges and 12" o.c. in panel field for a capacity of 240 plf and a total lateral resistance of 3880 lbs.
