W. Sequoia parkway, Suite 300 Portland, OR 97224 RE: Oregon Office Industrial Park Building No. 4 KGA Project No. 99-224 Dear Tom: We have prepared calculations reviewing the existing structural roof system for Building No. 4 of the Oregon Office Industrial Park. Simple span and single cantilevered portions of the 60' and 120' wide building were reviewed. Roofing samples indicate the existing roofing weight is 1.7 PSF. The new roofing will weigh 1.9 PSF. It is structurally acceptable to apply the new 1.9 PSF roofing, without removing the existing roofing. Sub - purlins and glu- laminated beam and support stresses are structurally acceptable. A small localized over - stress of three percent (3 %) may occur at the 4 x 16 purlins at suspended ceiling areas under full design snow loads. The possible three percent (3 %) over -stress is structurally acceptable, as calculations assumed Douglas -fir #2 grade when actual members are #2 and better. Therefore, a three percent (3 %) possible short - term over- stress is an acceptable variation. The 6' /a" x 39" beam could also experience a 0.47% over - stress in bending under full load on all spans- A possible 0.47% short -term over - stress is an acceptable variation. I trust the above information is satisfactory for your needs. If you have any questions, please call our office. • r PROP Sincerely, Leonard J. Krombein, P. E.
